Perry Van Der Beck - Executive Vice President, Technical Director and Director of Player Development

Perry  Van Der Beck is a former professional soccer player. After his successful playing career has remained actively involved in the soccer community as a player, coach and mentor in the Tampa Bay area.

From 2004 to 2006, Van Der Beck was Head Coach and Technical Director of the Olympic Development Program for the Super Y League, a National Youth League. During the 2003-2004 season, Van Der Beck was a staff coach with the adidas Elite Soccer Program, which identifies the best high school players in the nation and invited them to a weeklong training program with US National team players.

From 1997 to 2002, Van Der Beck worked as Head Coach, Assistant Coach and Director of Community Relations for the Tampa Bay Mutiny. During the 1995 season Perry was an assistant coach, player and Director of Youth Development for the Tampa Bay Terror, a National Professional Soccer League team.

From 1988 through 1994, Van Der Beck was a professional soccer player and assistant coach for the former Tampa Bay Rowdies, then an American Professional Soccer League team. Van Der Beck played in the Major Indoor Soccer League with the Wichita Wings, St. Louis Steamers and Dallas Sidekicks. He was a member of the US National Team when it played in the NASL as Team America in Washington D.C. Among his many awards are 1984 U.S. Player of the Year and captain of the 1980 U.S. Olympic Team.

Van Der Beck’s commitment to youth development and soccer is well known. He participated in Campkickinthegrass from 1979 until 1994. A true sports fan, Van Der Beck enjoys watching soccer live and on television, golf, cycling and skiing.

 

Paul Dalglish - Head Coach

Dalglish, a Scotland native, started his career in 1994 at Glasgow Celtic FC and went on to play for Liverpool’s reserve team. Dalglish continued his professional soccer career as a striker and right-winger for teams including Newcastle United FC playing under manager Ruud Gullit in the English Premier League, Wigan FC, Hibernian FC and the Houston Dynamo. While playing for the Houston Dynamo in Major League Soccer, Dalglish helped lead the team to two MLS Cup titles in 2006 and 2007 and he was awarded the 2006 Western Conference Final MVP.

Dalglish comes from an impressive soccer heritage as the son of “King” Kenny Dalglish, one of the greatest players and managers in soccer history.  His sister, Kelly Cates, is also an on-air soccer journalist for ESPN. 

Dalglish retired in 2008 to pursue a career in coaching.  Dalglish has spent time studying coaching techniques and match strategy at Liverpool with manager Rafa Benitez and at Blackburn Rovers FC with manager and former Rowdies player Sam Allardyce. He also coached for the Houston Dynamo Academy.

 

Brian Duncan - Athletic Trainer

Brian Duncan comes to the Rowdies after spending the last two years working in minor league baseball working for the Baltimore Orioles and New York Yankees organizations. Before he worked in baseball, he spent time working at a Junior College in New Mexico, New Mexico Military Institute, and at high schools in South Carolina. Duncan received his Bachelor’s degree from Nebraska Wesleyan University in Exercise Science and his Master’s degree from West Virginia University in Athletic Training. He is a Certified Athletic Trainer by the National Athletic Trainers Association and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist by the National Strength and Conditioning Association.

Dr. Seth Gasser - Team Physician

Dr. Seth Gasser, Medical Director of Florida Orthopedic Institute Surgery Center, is board certified by American Board of Orthopedic Surgery.  Dr. Gasser received his PhD from University of Maryland School of Medicine, completed his orthopedic residency at the University of Southern California and Sports Medicine Fellowship at Southern California Center for Sport Medicine. Dr. Gasser was team physician for University of South Florida, University of Tampa and St. Leo University.  He has been voted “Best Doctors in America” for four consecutive years.

Jason Riley - Strength and Conditioning Coach

Jason Riley is the director of the Athletes Compound for Saddlebrook Resort.  Riley previously worked for IMG Academies International Performance Institute as Associate Director of Performance and Director of Performance for the MLB spring training prep program.  He was also the Strength and Conditioning Coordinator for the U.S. U-17 National Soccer Team and MLS Real Salt Lake. Riley graduated from University of Nebraska with a degree in exercise physiology and completed his Master’s at University of Nebraska Omaha.

Dr. Gerald Cosentino - Team Podiatrist

Dr. Gerald Cosentino of Bayshore Podiatry Center serves as the Rowdies Team Podiatrist.

Terry Buckenheimer, DMD - Team Dentist

Terry Buckenheimer, DMD, of Buckenheimer & Bulnes DMD PA, serves as the Rowdies Team Dentist.
